Fair Trade Forum-India (FTF-I) organized the XVI National Convention on Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, with a special focus on textiles, handlooms and handicrafts in Hyderabad from 1st to 2ndDecember, 2016. The event was held at Katriya Hotels and Towers, Somajiguda, Hyderabad.Most of the sessions focused on exploring synergies with the government’s efforts towards generating sustainable livelihoods through skill development and entrepreneurship. This also brought into the limelight sustainable models of entrepreneurship, innovative practices in inclusive development of artisans and different ways of scaling up small enterprises by exploring global markets.Read more

Fair Trade Forum-India along with its members is celebrating Fair Trade Fortnight from 2nd to 16thOctober 2014. The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘FAIR TRADE PEOPLE’. The people who are part of the Fair Trade voice, that include-the producers and artisans, consumers, individuals who support Fair Trade, social entrepreneurs, Fair Trade organisations, the Fair Trade networks and the advocates and promoters of Fair Trade.

FTF-I members across India are organising various Fair Trade awareness and promotional events and programs to spread the message of Fair Trade in India:

sipalogoFair Trade Awareness program by SIPA, Chennai: SIPA, Chennai is organising a Fair Trade awareness program at Department Of Management, Pondicherry University on 9th Oct 2014 in the university campus. The program consists of half a day interactive workshop for around 200 students from Management, Economics, Commerce, Tourism, Rural Innovation and Corporate Secretaryship departments. Following this, there will be “I SUPPORT FAIR TRADE” campaign organised to reach up to 1000 students. The Vice-Chancellor of the university is invited to inaugurate the program. The event is also sought to receive good press coverage.

The AntsThe Ants Craft Trust, Assam will be celebrating Fair Trade Fortnight with their producer groups from Northeast. They will be visiting different artisans group in different parts of Assam, Meghalya and Manipur, promoting fair-trade through an event in each place.

LogoFair Trade Awareness program to be organised by Jan Kala Sahitya Manch (JKSMS) at Indian Institute of Crafts & Design (IICD), Jaipur, Rajasthan on 15th Oct 2014. The overall objective of this program will be to create an opportunity for the students to understand the Fair trade initiatives in India and explore common platform to go forward together.
